As humans, the pursuit of change and progress is something that is innate to every one of us. Like it or not, there will always be things in life that we hope could be a little different, a little better in the way that daily situations & events turn out. It could be in the way we think, speak, or the way we handle everything from our finances to our relationships with others. We seek to become better -- and we should. As we strive to continuously exceed our potential, we rise above all previous versions of ourselves and grow stronger. In this issue, we look at some ways in which we can embrace a better self and an even better future. | The Relentless Pursuit of Improvement It is no secret that I believe growth is the only guarantee that tomorrow will be better. It is no mystery that I think personal growth is the steppingstone to success for any leader. If you or I want to stay in front of the curve and lead others, then we must do the work that keeps us out front. We must continually improve. But as I seek to improve, there is one thing I know not to chase, and that is perfection. Perfection is a trap. Do not chase perfection as a leader - chase improvement. Make today better than yesterday so tomorrow can be better than today. The relentless pursuit of improvement will take any leader far. | I used to be jealous of other people's wealth and success - here is how I finally got over it Envy. It is an emotion that we all feel at some point. It is also a really dangerous emotion when we are trying to build a strong financial life. Envy is pure poison to a healthy financial life. After all, envy encourages us to make some pretty poor decisions. Like every other character flaw, however, envy can be overcome. You can directly reduce the envy itself, or you can at least reduce the bad choices you make as a result of envy. Here are seven strategies I use to cut envy out of my own life. | To reach beyond your limits by training your mind | Marisa Peer | TEDxKCS | Proudly Brought to You I seek to reach out to people who believe in safeguarding the interests of their loved ones. General Manager, China & South East Asia . Manuli Hydraulics Christine Tan is by far the best financial consultant my family and I ever had. She is technically very competent, and she always make sure she addresses the queries we have. What we like about her is that she is not simply focused on selling a product but she tries to maximize the existing portfolio while taking us around potential unexploited benefits.
Being based in China, during the three years of border closure we received great remote support from Christine for all the investments in Singapore. I would highly recommend her to anybody looking for a trusted advisor. | | | Gary Liu . Purchasing Director, SEA & Oceania . Raw Materials and Energy Purchasing Christine took over my Prudential policies from a previous agent a few years back.
At that time, my family only had one Prudential policy (my hospitalization plan), while I had 2 financial planners servicing my family’s portfolio of policies.
Before our first appointment, I recall telling Christine that I already have 2 FPs and it is not possible for me to purchase any policies.
Fast forward to now, the policies which my family purchased ever since that first meeting with Christine have all been from her considered recommendations.
This is because Christine is knowledgeable, sincere and patient. She really goes in depth to analyze what her clients needs, including consolidating our plans which do not belong to her.
Not only that, she often takes the initiative to inform her clients proactively what may be beneficial to her clients, even though it may not be related to Prudential policies, e.g. SRS, Singapore Bonds, CPF top-ups, to name a few.
Whenever we have any doubts / questions related to financial planning, the first person we go to is definitely Christine. | | | Lam Mong Kwan. Music Educator I am very glad to have Christine as my personal advisor. She is knowledgeable and well-versed in a wide range of strategies, financial solutions, products and services. Not only are her explanations detailed, she also provided very realistic perspectives about things to look out for when I consider the various options.
I like that she is never pressurizing but very fast with follow-ups that needs to be done. She is there for all my claims when I needed it most. She truly listens before she suggests what core issues to address. A dedicated professional advisor, that is what we all need. | | | Leo Chiang. Senior Vice President, Application Services. Banking Technology I am fortunate that my account was taken over by Christine 10+ years ago.
Christine earned her reputation through her long time experience in the industry and being well-versed in a wide range of products and services. What makes Christine outstanding is not just the detail explantion of various options of policies that suit my need, but she provides excellent service and the quickest possible follow up when I needed urgent help from her on multiple occasions.
I wish to write my appreciation to Christine, then I noticed a lot of similar feedback from other clients on her excellent services and sincerity. That is no surprise to me since she well deserves it.
I never thought of any insurance plan at my 20s. Then I witnessed family members, colleagues and friends having chronic disease and even critical illness. None of them have their insurance plans to cover medical expenses and protection for their families. It took too long for me to realise everybody should start a suitable insurance plan as early as possible. This is the price to me for starting my policies late when I aged and health going downhill.
Getting an experienced and caring insurance and financial advisor is important to start a plan. Christine is definitely the right person that we can count on. | | | Yi Ling. Legal Counsel. I have known Christine for quite a few years after she took over my account from an agent who left. I can honestly say that I have gotten very good service from her since then, despite her not being the original agent from whom I purchased my policies from. Having gotten to know Christine better since then, I have found her to be sincere and knowledgeable in her area of expertise. I like that she provides the rationale and detailed explanation as to why she thinks certain things are necessary so I can then make an informed decision as to whether or not something is right for me. Thanks for the great service and advice! | | | Mr & Mrs Richie Koh. Deputy Director (Application Services Information Technology) . GovTech Christine took over the servicing of our Prudential policies in 2014. Over the past years, my family and I have benefited from her dedicated service.
Unlike any past financial planners I have, Christine is not pushy nor will she hardsell services just to obtain sales commission. She cares for her clients and is genuinely looking out for policies and investments that would bring the best value and benefit to us.
Prior to any sign up of a policy or investment, Christine will arrange to spend time and effort to walk through with us the pros and cons of each option. This was to ensure that we have a clear understanding how the policy/investment we take up would align with our financial needs for retirement.
My family and I have indeed benefited from Christine's dedicated service and I will not hesitate to recommend her to my friends/contacts whenever the opportunity arise, as I am certain they would benefit from her service as well. | | | | |
